The Isle of May in the Firth of Forth is a nature reserve famous for sea-birds. Visitors can make the boat trip to the island every summer to see the local wildlife. The island is known to have had a lighthouse in 1635 and a church was founded there in the 9^th century. The priory that grew up there was transferred to the Canons of St Andrews in 1318 and was relocated to Pittenweem.
