The papers of William Carmichael McIntosh document his professional career as Professor of Natural History at St Andrews and his work on marine biology. The collection also includes many personal and family papers, including a series of family scrapbooks.
Album 7, is full of drawings and illustrations relating to the sea and coastlines, including these fanciful drawings of sea creatures by McIntosh’s sister, artist Roberta McIntosh (image on the left). The image of the right is a watercolour of the St Andrews coastline at the Cathedral and harbour. There are further drawings and watercolours in the album which you can see online here.
